All original psychedelic, space rock, layered with beautiful male/female vocal harmonies. At times, lonesome and country tinged. At times explosive, and raw. Always beautiful.

Album Notes

The Cush was formed in 2000 by the songwrighting team of Gabrielle and Burette Douglas. After playing for 6 years together in Dallas based noise-pop band Buck Jones, they were ready for a shift in musical direction.
Focusing on the more experimental and cerebral sides of their songwriting they recorded their first full length, self titled Cd, and released it independently in 2001.
Gabrielle and Burette moved to Burlington, Vermont in the summer of 2001 and released their album to good reviews and a warm reception.
The live band consists of Gabrielle on bass, keys and vocals. Burette on guitar and vocals. Aaron Hornblass from local band Rock-n-Roll Sherpa, on guitar. Steve Hadeka of the Seth Yacavone Band on drums, and fellow Dallas transplant Chris Brodie of Floor 13 and D.A.R.Y.L. on keyboards.
The Cush's live show has expanded far beyond the sound of their first release as you can hear on their newest album, New Appreciation for Sunshine. They have opened for Cat Power and Broken Social Scene in Burlington, and are currently touring in the Northeast.
Their new album, New Appreciation for Sunshine, is 5o minutes of beautifully layered, dreamy, psychedelic rock.
