Album Notes

Guitarist, bassist and composer Andy Cymerman hails from Amherst, N.Y. where he grew up playing guitar and bass with a variety of ensembles. He was heavily influenced by late 60's psychedelia as well as American and British blues guitarists. During the Amherst years his emphasis was on live performance with large doses of improvisation whenever possible. Moving west coincided with a shift to composing and recording as the prime directive. After lengthy stints in San Francisco and Honolulu, he currently resides, composes and records in the Los Angeles area.
C. Altamira

Not much is known about this semi-reclusive composer/musician, and apparently that's fine with him. However, people tend to want some information about the artists that they are interested in. So, in an attempt to comply, after extensive snooping around, this is what was uncovered:
Influences include Chopin, Debussy, Stravinsky, George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Mick Taylor, Carlos Santana, Robbie Robertson, Neil Young, Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Jack Casady, Phil Lesh, Frank Zappa, Donald Fagan, and Walter Becker. After many years of being the jammin'-est guy around, playing anytime/any place, guitar or bass...thunderous rock bands, bluesy ones, countryish ones, bar bands, Grateful Dead-style jam bands, large bands, small bands, trios, duos... a shift away from live performing occurred and a preference for composing and recording developed. These days, the composition is king...musicianship is the means to bring an artistic vision to fruition. These compositions are deeply personal. Like an instrumental version of a journal. A journal written in the universal language - MUSIC. A large catalog of this music exists although very little has been offered to the public. This may be a case of testing the waters.
For now, this will have to suffice.
Keep your mind open, let the music take it where it will...
