If you took a ride down Miracle Alley where would it take you?
Folk duo Cynova’s debut release, Miracle Alley, takes you on a sonic journey into a garden of sound. The memorable melodies will have you singing in the shower and dancing down the hallway. The lush vocal harmonies, inspired instrumental work and pure variety deliver an experience worthy of a road trip.
Songwriter CJ Smith’s back door socio-political statements and often tongue in cheek relationship commentary are both poignant and thought provoking. Ranging stylistically from thumping roots rock, achingly good ballads, minor blues, and even a little bluegrass, the collection creates a bouquet of color that spans the emotional palette. The passion and honesty that result will grab you by the soul and not let you go.
From the moment they started singing together members CJ Smith and Nora- Ellen Long knew they had something special. A little torch, a little twang, the combination of the two voices creates a soulful tension that is dynamic and vibrant, at times blending into one sound so completely that it is impossible to tell them apart.
A native of Georgia, CJ learned to walk to the Beatles but was also saturated with the country sounds of rural radio. Later she found inspiration in the likes of Dan Fogelberg, the Eagles, the Indigo Girls, Melissa Etheridge, and Dar Williams. Like a hint of vanilla in your latte, these influences provide a sweet background to her original work.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Nora-Ellen has been a singer all her life. Her early musical influences were the folk and acid rock groups of the 60’s and the harmony rich groups like Poco, the Byrds, Jesse Colin Young. This vast background is put to good use in the exploration of creativity that shines through in the vocal arrangements.

A new favorite CD. n that's saying a lot.

Cool and yet vibrant. Just about wore it out in my car(if that's possible). My main musical interest comes from the 60's and very early 70's, including a lot of rock and roll and also folk music. Although these tracks are new and contemporary, they tend to bring me back to those days. Wonderful vocals and wonderful acoustics. Everyone must add this to their collection.

Put it in the car, this CD is worthy of a road trip

CYNOVA - the name of the band itself, compels a person to hear more…. Contained within this new CD are 12 original songs: sincere music that goes straight to the heart. Strong female vocalists and a great band, Miracle Alley gives voice to what some would consider the infinite mysteries of life. Listen on if you are searching for a sound that is far-reaching and wonderful in it’s genuine look at being human and all that entails.
Not ashamed to make you laugh, cry or sing, it dares you to move while feeling some of the spirit of the southwest, it’s color, it’s burdens and it’s joys. Slip in some great guitar solos and you feel that you’ve become a native to music again.
Crossover? You betcha. This CD is just as happy in a 16 year old’s IPOD as well as any self-respecting baby boomer’s stereo. A sophisticated body of work including songs that give your visual imagination a turn: As in the very sexy Let me be your Fantasy, the title song, Miracle Alley’s refrain is hard to keep out of your head, and the humor in Like a Hot Rock: “You dropped me like a hot rock, disappeared like a laundry sock.” (who can’t relate to that one?!) and the beauty and longing in Invisible and Angel of the Lost speak to all our hearts. Don’t be surprised if these songs stir up conversations, or make you break out in song with the person you are with.
Put it in the car. This CD is worthy of a road trip.
