Album Notes

With her Debut album, 'State of Grace' Cynthia Barber has put together a fine collection of songs. A traditional country songwriter, she brings a quirky side from the Colorado country that she grew up in and the influences she has picked up on her travels.

Currently residing in Chicago, Il the band is a stand up group of fellows: Don Stiernberg (Also plays with country crooner Robbie Fulks, as well as his own band, the Don Stiernberg Trio - dedicated to encouraging jazz mandolin)
Kevin Connelley on drums, Curt Morrison on a multitude of guitars and sometimes Mark Beringer on bass. Tommy Sanchez (Liquid Soul) appears on 'Anthem.'

For the last five years they have been working with producer Craig J. Snider, (Cher, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Michael Brandmier) producing 'State Of Grace' and numerous solo projects set for release Spring of 2006.

REVIEWS

author: CD Baby
A pure country roots singer/songwriter who bends tradition on both ends. It is essentially a country album, but the trumpets on the first track get your attention immediately. And the songs! My goodness the songs! They're so honest and feel so comfortable. Their feel and movement is outstanding. This album is for country lovers, but i think folkies will love it too.

This one stands out from the crowd!
author: Mark Alessio
There are tons of 'roots' releases coming out these days, but only a handful really stand out from the crowd. Cynthia Barber's "State of Grace" is one of those stand-outs. This CD boasts some truly solid songwriting, fine performances and expressive vocals. These aren't the usual 'country clone' vocals that you can't help tripping over these days. Cynthia Barber's voice is honest, heartfelt....it makes an impression. And, maybe best of all, this is a CD that's very heavy on mood and atmosphere. It's very visual stuff, and it stays with you long after you pop the CD out of the player. Don't miss this one!
