Album Notes

The amorphous Cyrus Grape (created by composer Nathaniel Bech) has taken on many forms over the years and will continue to morph in the years to come. The music ranges in influence and sound from folk/country, to jazz, fusion and 21st centrury classsical music. The orchestrated settings ranged from a trio comprised of guitar, keys and drums to the much larger setting of two cellos, violin, double bass, keys/piano, guitar, and drums. Influences span many genres and include composers such as Rimsky-Korsokov, Prokoviev, Bartok, Zappa, Piazzolla and Miles Davis, as well as collaborative composers such as Pink Floyd and Radiohead. Nathaniel Bech received his Bachelors of the Arts degrees in both Music and Religious Studies from the University of Oregon in 2004. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon where he performs and teaches private music lessons.

Very nice stuff

Bech has produced some beautiful peices on this CD with a fusion of both haunting melodies and jam moments that get you swinging. One gets a sense of both a sneering musician, creating art for art's sake, as well as the considerate composer creating work that will appeal to the masses. It is well worth your time to listen through it.
