Originally, the idea for this project was to create funky, danceable ideas with some different melodic things going on over the top. Arrangements that would lend themselves one to another to create a cohesive album experience. It was also very important to make sure every track was at least as good as each preceding track. I wanted the music to move but not too fast. I think we were able to articulate a unique musical perspective while remaining familiar.
For some listeners it may seem strange, at first, to hear quite a bit of internal melody, or melody lines being shared by multiple voices within the arrangement. This really has occurred due to the call-response style with which I compose.
A lot of experimentation went into the making of this set of compositions. I've attempted to do some invention here and there
but I've also tried to keep the sounds as sweet as possible.
