Da Champ is from Newport News, VA. He is the son of a Baptist Preacher, a Father, a Poet, a Student, and a Producer. He started as a rapper and following his passion he developed a love for Spoken Word. He credits Amde Hamilton (The Watts Prophets), Abiodun (The Last Poets), Sonia Sanchez, Eryk Moore, Lyrical~Toye, Tshombe Sekou, Pure Black Poet, Brook Yung, Rudy Francisco as great sources of Inspiration and growth. His raw upbringing has given him not only a deep insight to the plights of those that live in urban communities but a deep connection that is translated in his music.
