Desolate and sparse, the tracks that comprise And There Shall Be None are painfully direct. Chronicling relationship breakdowns (from the depiction of the fraught affair between Assia Wevill and Ted Hughes in Dear Assia to the recollection of personal loss in 07.07.07) the quiet moments of despair are balanced out by Daisy's "Herculean howl" as her voice soars to new towering peaks as tender, intimate moments give way to sonic vocal blasts to highlight the tempestuous affairs of the heart. Though the songs appear to be continually clinging to a 'low-ebb', devoid of any visage of hope, these are also songs about survival as each 'heart' survives their own personal persecution...all except Assia's, of course...
