Album Notes

The record industry has been on the lookout for the next young country female talent. Though there have been a few knocking on the door, none have made the impact the industry was hoping for yet. 16 year old Arizona native Daisy Mallory is making herself known among the industry with the release of her latest effort. She instantly displays her modern pop-country style as “Posin’” begins the album as she sings a tale of a guy that is simply acting in love with her but doesn’t really feel it in his heart, in other words he’s posin’. This same catchiness and upbeat, pop-country style that initially attracts you to her continues to shine as you dig through the EP on tracks like “Didn’t I” and “Daddy’s Boots,” where she takes a look back on life when it was easier, taking you through the years of growing up, from falling off her bike, to having her heart broke, making and losing friends, etc… She does take time to slow things down a bit on cuts like “I Know You Don’t” and “You Can’t Stay,” where her voice and lyrics take over the song and capture you as she sings about knowing that she has to let her relationship go, and the inevitable pains that come with it, while attempting to stay strong. It’s simple logic really. The industry is looking for the next young artist, and they really need to look no further than Daisy Mallory. She has the voice, sass, ability to slow things down, and lyrics that are relevant to both young and old alike. She is one you should be keeping your eyes on, and I suspect big things are just around the corner for her. (Today’s Country Magazine, June 2009)
