Damian Figueroa a.k.a. DAME JERSEY is 100% Boricua from Paterson, NJ. Coming from a family rich in Puerto Rican Culture, DAME is the youngest son of five children. Through much adversity and struggling DAME was able to absorb strength and courage from his mother Miriam, who for the majority of his life single handedly raised five children. The Figueroa family had its fair share of struggles and misfortunes. In 1994, DAME lost his second brother to a fatal disease. It was through this tragedy that DAME realized he needed an outlet to express himself. It didn't take long for DAME to realize his talent as a lyricist, as he frequently channeled his pain through song. It became focal to DAME to express his family tragedy in an attempt to heal. It was at that time when DAME set out to tell the story of his life. With a musical backdrop, DAME, created a lyrical style that would help define him. In attempt to relieve the Figueroa family from the mean streets of Paterson, NJ, Miriam moved her family to Massachusetts. DAME JERSEY'S gritty and energetic rapping style has been influenced by the likes of BIG PUN, JAY-Z, and BUSTA RHYMES to name a few. DAME'S "crowd pleasing ability" has given him an opportunity to open for platinum artist such as JAY-Z and P-DIDDY. He has also opened shows from national recording artist EMINEM, FAT JOE, LIL'JON, NEPTUNES, THE GAME, and DADDY YANKEE. DAME JERSEY'S buzz in the streets led him to perform at CALLE OCHO FESTIVAL MIAMI,FL in March 2005, which is said to have been his best performance to date. In May 2005, DAME JERSEY shared the stage with Reggaeton artist CHEKA in Fort Lauderdale FL. DAM is also Vice President and artist of an independent label, LEGEND LEAGUERZ, INC.
