ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Austin, TX seems to be the breeding ground for some of the most talented musicians. Damesviolet has taken Texas by storm and has developed into one of the premier up and coming bands of the state. All in their early 20's, the band's musicianship and maturity take them to another plateau. They have gained the respect of the Texas music community having shared the stage with the likes of The Black Crowes, Blues Traveler, Lit, Dishwalla, Blue October, Bush, Days of the New, Edwin McCain, Avril Lavigne, and many more.

Damesviolet began in October of 97' when brothers Beaux and Zak Loy, having recently moved to Austin from their hometown of Dinero, TX went into the studio to cut demos with producer Mark Hallman. Shortly after the brothers teamed up with long time friend Evan Huston and shortly thereafter, Austin native Tommy Roalson to complete the bands lineup. Nonstop rehearsing paid off for the band, landing them gigs at many of Austin's top venues including the Austin Music Hall and LaZona Rosa. After hearing the band once, Artist Manager Mark Proct (Jimmie Vaughan, The ARC Angels, Storyville, Vallejo) became an instant fan taking the band under his management wing.

Soon after meeting Proct and performing in SXSW 2001, the band headed back into the studio with producer Carl Thiel (Lisa Tingle, Bob Schneider, Monty Montgomery) of Austin, TX. The original intention was to record a three song demo but the chemistry in the studio was working so well that the band completed ten songs and instead decided to release a full length CD. Damesviolet also landed SXSW 2002 & 2003 showcases. Their first record sold over 3,000 copies and gained them radio play on local stations such as KLBJ, The Mix, and 101X.

In February 2004 Damesviolet teamed up with producer John Ryan (Santana, STYX, Wil Seabrook Band) of Los Angeles, CA to create Room 107, the follow up to Damesviolet's first self-titled release. Room 107 is an all-new, edgy record that is taking the band to even higher levels of success in the southern US region. It encompasses heart-felt lyrics combined with modern rock progressions and is helping to broaden Damesviolets fan base.

Damesviolet is composed of five striking young individuals, who, together, meld into a "wall of sound" that can hold its own to the most seasoned of musical veterans. It is the songs that set Damesviolet apart from most other bands. The songs combine an adolescent arrogance with mature musical content that make it appealing to both the young teenagers and the seasoned rock and rollers.

Damesviolet signed with new up and coming indie label Simple Living Records in 2006 and is releasing their new album Upside Down in Nov 2006.

developed well, solid music with a soul
This is one of those albums that fits together as a whole. Just listening to bits and pieces doesn't cut it. Granted however, it does start off kind of funky with a good tune "stay away" it is definetly not the best on the record. However, it really sets you up for "still" then knocks you out with track 3. Then ALL OF THE SUDDEN, you get into this dream state and you are hypnotized by "Sometimes".
While in a hypnotic state, you immediately move into a dream state with "endless dream". I am telling you!, it is awesome, this is what albums are made for. Then there is a transition song that mellows everything out before you get excited again with the Billy Idol sound alike sound. Again, all of this fits together very well! But by far, my favorite track is #9 "Love Heals" I love the harmonies, I love the words, I love the tune, and it MAKES ME FEEL GOOD!
I can't get that damn tune out of my head.
The record goes into some finishers that really make you think and then you hear a song that makes you think this guy is about to kill himself.
Thanks Damesviolet!!, it is a GREAT cd!
