Biography of Damian Brell:

Once you have experienced a Damian Brell performance, you are instantly a fan.

Damian Brell is a New Zealand born musician, singer, producer and arranger. He began studying piano when he was six, eventually going on to study several other instruments. When he was fourteen, his family moved to Wellington where he attended Wellington College and read music at Victoria University of Wellington, majoring in composition. It was during this time he began formative work as a conductor and music director. Branded early as a “radical” by his peers, there was little doubt that Damian’s music would leave an indelible footprint.

In addition to performing as a classically trained pianist, Damian also played percussion in local orchestras, drums in two bands, performed with the university opera company, and in 1999 was commissioned to write a musical for a local Wellington school. He worked as a staff pianist at the New Zealand School of Dance and was a member of the prestigious New Zealand Youth Choir, which toured the United States in 2001.

In 2002, he left for the United Kingdom and France, eventually travelling and performing extensively throughout Western Europe, the United States and Central America as a singer and pianist. Since then, Damian has performed around the world, wowing audiences at every show.

Damian’s unique musical style and sound has been prominently compared to the talents of Elton John and David Bowie – musical styles which are emulated with Damian’s own musical language that comes from training in many different genres. This talent and formal training, when combined with the Rock ‘n’ Roll spirit flowing through his blood, produces an incredibly addicting sound that is “Damian Brell”.

While there is no one quite like Damian, with his high energy and uniquely complex themes, his music and warm voice strike a familiar chord with audiences across all spectrums. It is nothing less than magic when he sits down at his piano and lets his fingers fly, all the while passionately singing his stirring melodies.

Damian can rock you out with a theatrical flair that makes you remember how cool it is to be a rock star, or he can warm your soul with one of his insightful ballads. Either way, Damian Brell is one of the true great Rock entertainers of our time.

Absolutely brilliant. I saw Damian perform on a cruise a couple of years ago and thought he was amazing then, so I was completely thrilled when I discovered this album, and so were the friends I cruised with.

Damian Brell is one of the most talented musicians I have heard in quite a while. To see him play the piano live and solo was a real treat, but this CD offers 10 great tracks, all written and composed by Brell. If you buy this CD, you will not be disappointed.
