Born in the working-class heartland of northern England, singer/songwriter Damian Joyce arrived in America 10 years ago. Industry giants EMI having persuaded him to leave his beloved , adopted home of Barcelona, Spain on hearing his debut CD 'No Fixed Abode' in 1998. The album chronicled Damian's worldwide travels, experiences and ultimate search for 'peace of mind'.. Though continually writing, the decade that followed his move produced TV and Film soundtracks and hundreds of live performances but no 'follow-up' CD.., until now.
'The Wilderness' is how Damian describes this period of time. Years of glorious highs and painful lows, seemingly amounting to nothing more than a haze of life experiences that left him mentally and emotionally exhausted. Asking himself "Where was I? and what the hell was I doing?" ...only for the answers to come finally flooding out in song...,
'The Wilderness' investigates the exhileration, passion, pain, fear.., the intricacies of love. The quest for contentment and the meaning of 'success' . The feeling of helplessness and search for hope in a politcally corrupt, racially and religiously charged 'world at war'. Subjects we all relate to on a daily basis, musically/ lyrically exposed and painstakingly excavated from the depths of 'The Wilderness"
