The songs created for this album were comprised from a combination of over 30 years of playing together and a newly discovered blend of Jazz, Blues, and Rock. The final product of this evolution has delivered some of the greatest recordings ever performed by this legendary group. With John Drendall on lead guitar and lead vocals, Sid Seymour handling the bass, keyboards, vocals, and engineering, followed by Dick Dunham completing the circle with his drums, percussion, and vocals. This latest album is sure to surprise all new fans and fulfill all expectations of devoted listeners.
It is indeed a great honor and pleasure to be asked to write the liner notes for this latest Damion CD - "Steamy Night In Texas."
Webster's dictionary defines "friendship" ( noun,\'fren(d)-ship\) as ..."companions or peers with whom one has a common interests, emotional bonds, and social relationships".
I further define "friendship" as the group Damion".
First I'll discuss the obvious: once again John,Dick and Sid have come together to create their uniquely wonderful music in CD format for all of us to enjoy.
What might not be so immediately obvious (to all but their closest friends) are the years of hard work that this band of brothers has invested in defining and creating their common musical interests; the years spent together ( in both good times and bad ) forming the deep emotional bonds that are the foundation of Damion's music; and the lifetime that Sid,Dick and John have invested in the creation, engagement and maintenance of relationships and resulting new friendships created by and based upon the entity known as Damion.
Some of us have been around since the beginning - and some of you will be hearing Damion's music on this CD for the first time. To name all the names would not be possible and I'll not even try for fear of forgetting even one. I'll say this much -- you'll never meet anyone who claims they " used to be a Damion fan." Once on board with this crew -- you're in for the long haul.
Rather than ramble on with my take on the nine diverse and exceptional tunes contained on this CD, I suggest you pour or roll yourself a moderate amount of your vintage decompression agent, dim the lights, sit back and enjoy Mr. Dunham, Mr. Drendall and Mr. Seymour's latest accomplishment. You will not regret the time in vested in this endeavor one bit -- I guarantee it!
