Album Notes

The Damngivers are an Americana flavored band fronted by lead singer and writer Gerry Gomez. They have good hooks, simple song structures, folky & introspective lyrics and can flat out rock, whisper, or jam - along with induce lasting memories. Their music is familiar, rootsy and comfortable. Gerry Gomez's songs reflect his desire to form a more perfect union between his social, personal & political leanings. The package is delivered with a sonic pallet similar to AM-era Wilco, Ryan Adams, The Replacements and Neil Young. Among Gerry's favorite writers are Paul Westerberg, Jeff Tweedy, Mark Linkous, Vic Chestnutt and Woody Guthrie. Guitar, bass, drums, pedal steel guitar, percussion, and the manically expressive guitar stylings of Mike Salas suggest a kinship with AM radio of the ‘70s and the singer-songwriter genre. Hailing from Long Beach, CA, the album was produced by Anthony Arvizu who co-produced two stellar albums by Grammy and Oscar award winner, Ryan Bingham. Along with Marc Ford, Phantom Limb and scores of other down-to-earth sounding recordings, Arvizu again delivers the goods on this debut.
