D'Amphibians have been jamming in and near San Francisco over 14 years, getting better and tighter with time. People enjoy their live shows so much because they are not contrived, not too loud or busy, and the hotties just seem to come out of the wood work to move it to the tight rhythmic sway, creating a magnet on the dance floor. The crowds emerge exhausted and satisfied and amazed at how tight, melodic, percussive, and passionate the music is. Steve Moore the bass player/singer writes most of the music and is the son of successful songwriter Daniel Moore (Shambala, My Maria, Sweet Forgiveness/Bonnie Raitt, many others), and features melody and taste in a prominent bottom end throughout each song. Chris Rossbach the lead guitarist has played with many famous musicians out of San Francisco and New Orleans, notably Zigaboo Modeliste of the Meters, and has been known to play Jerry Garcia-style lead guitar cleaner than Jerry Garcia. A master of tone, Chris will lead audiences from clean to crunchy settings and back, evoking many influences from Jerry to Knopfler to Jeff Beck but indeed has a psychedelic style all his own. Steven Younger also a lead singer, and weaves a classic Hammond B3 sound through the rhythmic fabric, hitting the tremolo for the high crescendo, and drummer Greg Thomas and percussionist Ben Nitzan are veteran steadfast and funk-ay in the pocket all night long, providing startingly skillful fills at just the right time. D'Amphibians were honing their craft of marathon live shows and improvisation around the same time as their contemporaries Phish and Blues Traveler, inspired by bootleg live tapes of the Meters from the '70s. The live jam crescendos have been caught on the studio CD Water Tight, made available as of June 2007. Basic tracks for the CD were recorded live in the studio at Emeryville Recording Studios, preserving an energetic, tight, interactive sound characteristic of the band. What sets D'Amphibians apart from other bands are that various musical components retain lead status throughout every song, and yet phenomenally do not step on each other, revealing something new each time the songs are given another listening. The band over time has mastered syncopation and complementary melody and rhythm. The lyrics are rhythmic and upbeat and express the sense of perserverance that embodies the band. Enjoy the bounce and melody and soul that is D'Amphibians - straight out of the swamp. Funky but clean. It's good time music for music's sake.
