Watching a Seed Grow into a Mighty Oak
As an undergraduate, Dan served as a teaching assistant for a jazz band course I taught at Humboldt State University. Even then, he practiced hard, sounded great, and clearly planned on advancing to the highest levels of composition and performance. Since then, Dan has played in a wide variety of ensembles, lived in different places, and excelled musically. He and I had not been in touch for a while when I bought this CD. Once I put it on, I could hear how much he has grown. This music sounds great!
