Hot on the heels of her debut CD, The Other Side, and a slew of supporting gigs all over the East Coast, Danan Healy arrives in late 2007 with a full length holiday album, Christmas Time Rocks.
Christmas Time Rocks features traditional Christmas favorites, jazz arrangements of holiday standards, and two of Healy's own original tunes: the title track, a reggae celebration of Christmas despite all the things that can go wrong, and "The One," a poignant ballad about the mother Mary.
Healy's musical career includes a five year stint in the Soldiers' Chorus of the US Army Field Band, three years fronting a rock band in Baltimore, and currently her own solo rock career in New York City. A classically trained graduate of The Eastman School of Music, she has been dedicated to writing and performing her own music since 2002, releasing three CDs in the last two years, including Christmas Time Rocks.

Danan Healy’s self-released Christmas album, Christmas Time Rocks is definitely a HIT, with a very cool Holiday-flavored case, complete with the classic wood grain and the option to fill out the To: and From: fields! Imagine if Jamaica experienced snowfall during the holidays… The warming roots reggae and ska rhythms presented in the opening notes of “Christmas Time Rocks” seamlessly blend with Danan’s strong and nurturing vocal talent, appealing to an expansive audience through this heart-felt combination of comedy, talent and novelty. Through Danan’s original songwriting and down-to-earth approach, we are reminded that this time of year is for having snowball fights and “acting like infants,” as opposed to the act of idolizing material objects like the iPhone or a new GPS device. Another Christmas Time Rocks original worth checking out is “The One,” which tells the story of Christmas in a fresh and palatable manner. The guitar work is slightly reminiscent of the Beatles or John Frusciante of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Danan’s stylistic approach to incorporating wordless vocals as a lead instrument definitely stands out from the rest on this “more-than-impressive” 2008 release!
