Album Notes

In 2007 I received a letter from a fan that I knew only as "Emo Girl." The letter struck me profoundly as she went on to describe how she was battling cancer and that my music was always uplifting to her. I sat down and wrote the song "Emo Girl" and immediately emailed her back to let her know. As the weeks progressed I recorded the song and sent it to her. I have spent every day since then with "Emo Girl" in my thoughts and prayers. "Emo Girl" has gone on to miraculously recover and heal. Here's how she put it to me in an email: "it is amazing!!! thank you so much!! i can't possibly convey how i really felt listening to the song. it kinda took me back to where i was a year ago... i am so lucky and oh so blessed. i'm not sure why i have been granted the opportunity to heal and grow while others have not been so fortunate. i guess there are things in life that we may never understand. i have learned a lot in my life, but nothing could ever compare to this one experience. in this, i learned to live and appreciate the small things in life."
