ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
If the title for Daniel Coyle's new album "From Prague to Paris" sounds like an ode to travel, well, it is. Coyle wrote the album while on a year-long tour of Europe, and the theme of movement permeates throughout each of these ten songs. Tracks like "These Times," "C'est La Vie," and "The Day" have the airy assonance of a carefree rover, and Coyle's earnest lyrics only add to the charm. This recording is often imbued with a cheerful musicality, but Coyle impressed this listener most with the quick picking and strumming of "Pelito Menagerie" - a moodily evocative piece with appropriately picturesque lyrics. Even for a genre that is frequently being remade, "From Prague to Paris" is a refreshing folk album, with Coyle modernizing the familiar theme of being on the road with his energetic talent.

Simply beautiful music
There are so many over-produced and overcooked voices on the market today that it can come as a true relief to find someone who is able to pull of a simple "singer and guitar" combination. Someone who sounds just as good in a live setting as on the studio CD. No tricks, no gimmicks, just great songwriting and music that seems to move organically around the words. Each song on this album tells a story by itself but, combined as a whole, it turns into a sweeping journey. You can almost hear the train engine moving you along through the lyrics.

There are singers, who can get on stage and sing a song. To be called an artist requires a much deeper dedication. Dan Coyle is definitely an artist who deserves wider exposure to his music. I can't wait to hear more from him.
