Album Notes

I've decided to do my part for the birds in 2008.

For the remainder of this year, I will donate 100% of my music sales to the American Bird Conservancy.

So please, purchase some of these tunes! After all, it's for the birds.

So you bought Dan Haas' sophomore CD "GOODbye MOON," and were immediately blown away by every note you heard. Ok, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration. Anyway, now... rightfully so, you'd like to hear more. Good news: there is more. Better news: Dan's band Ben's Bones is about to release a live CD with 15 tracks of brand new material!

Two years before, "GOODbye MOON," Dan's landmark record produced by Joe Pisapia, his debut recording, "11 Songs," was released. Simple enough title, sure. But what we the listener are treated to here, is a glimpse into the future. It's a chance to witness Dan's songwriting, singing and instrumentation grow.

"11 Songs," was mixed and mastered one spring weekend in May 2001 in Baltimore. Combining the warmth of an acoustic guitar with intimate vocals, Dan crafted eleven solid pop songs delivered from an intensely personally perspective.

11 Songs can best be enjoyed on Sunday mornings. Actually, anytime is the right time for these 11 Songs. If you ever have the opportunity to see them performed live you are in for a delightful experience. Dan's soul is laid bare and we are the better for it. Pure joy. Spread the word!

Dan Haas' music sets a tone, a standard if you will.

When subtly introducing Dan's CD at my social BIG CHILL event this past weekend (his music served as a soft wake up call to those fallen comrades very early Sunday morning), I observed, with amazement, how his songs captured the sleepy ears of old/wonderful friends searching for a soothing and pampering sound. Now those ears want to own it, will pay $ for it and will share it with others just as I did. It's time now for Dan to be serious and market this talent so that the world may deservingly hear it. We can't be selfish and keep him to ourselves! Go West Dan Haas! You are more than worthy of it. I mean it!

Take a load off and listen.

This new Dan Haas Haas CD "11 Songs" was recorded, mixed and mastered in the space of one weekend in the spring of 2001. The overall feeling reflects the time of year it was recorded, a CD full of hopeful melodies and introspective musings. This is a welcome opportunity for an ultra personal encounter with a very fine young songwriter. All the songs are written by Dan, who is a great student of popular music and a joy to watch perform with his band of stellar local talent. But even with band stripped away, here we are left with the soul of a dedicated and soulful artist, and a freshly penned song cycle. This is a good CD to listen to from beginning to end, maybe kinda like he wrote it, and just how it was recorded. Take a load off and listen.
