"Uncoiled" is the debut album from percussionist Dan Jacobson. Combining various elements of world, ambient, and electronic music, this diverse collection of recordings
explores a wide range of rhythm, texture, and mood. Eclectic beats, fluid atmospherics, and melodic bass lines form the foundation of the instrumental work with interspersed accents of trumpet, chimes, and guitar. Enhancing the imaginative scope of this work are guest performances from musicians John Slaney (bass), Harvey Kramer Hawks (trumpet), Lou Winant (cedar flute), Chris Westland (guitar), Joel Pedersen (keyboards), Jason Langton (percussion), and John Rolando (guitar).
"All of the down-tempo, resonant sounds with a samba beat affirm it as world music jazz ... it's sophisticated and polished." - The San Diego Reader
As an artist and composer, Dan Jacobson utilizes a unique assortment of acoustic, electronic, and tonal percussion to create unconventional blends of the organic and synthetic. His past collaborations have included performances with San Diego based bands Wormhole Effect and Dimestore Poets. Currently he is at work on the initial phases of a second CD with bass player John Slaney.
