Album Notes

A pleasant ride through the new wave influences of Elvis Costello, R.E.M., Bruce Springsteen and David Bowie make for interesting and genre bending trips for Dan King featuring Russ Lawton and James Cohen on drums, brother Jay Cohen on Piano and Organ, Burke Sampson on Guitar and Wolf Ginandes on bass. Recorded at Boston's Wooly Mammoth Studio and Cambridge's Hi N Dry. Though Two Kinds Of Mind, the previous record, was seen as an artistic break-through for Dan there was just no stopping on his journey to seek out new sounds and visions. These sessions hold some great experiments like the reggae meets morphine track Pasitome, the up start hard pop of Pleasant Birthday, the moody goth dance track Sit Down Sister, or the Rockpile meets Cars track Rock and Roll. The beautiful new wave ballad Bicycle Breaks harkens back to late 70's and early 80's Joe Jackson and Pretenders. So take a ride through the influences of Dan's early youth years with nostalgia and Joy for a good time was had by all!
