DANN GLENN
Symphony No. 5
(The Alaska Symphony)

This is the fifth work in a series of six symphonies by Glenn and the third in the Digital series. The composer spent much of his childhood living in Alaska. In this grand piece of work, befitting the land it is named after, Glenn uses a completely tonal approach to celebrate his memories from "The Land of the Midnight Sun."

Lush, majestic, movements take the listener on a journey of cobalt-blue snowcapped mountains, glaciers on the move, the aurora borealis, and whales escorting ships through the waterways.

Symphony No. 5 is a truly epic work that captures the pristine beauty of a place called...Alaska.

Such a joy listening to this music. Glenn's tip of the composer's hat to Copland in a few key places is amazing. I visited Alaska once when I was young, and now I can go back as much as I want, just by putting on this symphony.

So far I think this is my favorite work by Glenn, but that could change at any I time. The artist must have visited or lived in Alaska at one time to get this inspiration. All great music is timeless and this will endure I'm sure.
