Album Notes

Before he was firmly established as the funky, energetic keyboardist for award winning contemporary jazz/funk band, Modern Groove Syndicate, and before he toured with Mandy Moore's band in 2007, a youthful Daniel Clarke produced and starred in a live theater show at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, VA with about 20 of his musician friends.
Daniel performed on piano, Rhodes, or organ on each track and directed the action on stage to give each of six different musical configurations a chance to wow the crowd.
This is Daniel at age 20 while still attending VCU's acclaimed School of Jazz.
Take a trip back to June 2000 and give a listen to Daniel and his musical cohorts. This show ended with the audience literally dancing in the aisles an up onto the stage.

Bill McElroy, Soundsmith, owner of Richmond's Slipped Disc, came away from the remote recording session with about four hours of music. Danny edited it down to CD size. After a couple of mixing sessions, what you hold in your hands emerged. Yes, all except "Mullets" are covers, but I'm sure you will agree they're all stamped with Danny C's inspirational interpretation and delivery, which makes each cut special and this a truly unique CD. Enjoy.

"Jumps with surprises"
author: Richmond's Style Weekly
"...it would be criminal to say this recording is anything short of astonishing...Cut to cut, this thing jumps with surprises, and by the time the band concludes both the players and the listeners are exhausted and exhilarated by the wild ride. This is truly an inspired recording from a powerful group of players and a gifted bandleader with a bright musical furure."

"Nice doesn't do it justice..."
author: DC's SnapPop!
Clarke's vocalizing comes on again in another Wither's cover, 'Grandma's Hands.' Nice doesn't do it justice. It sounds like he got so far inside the song that he tapped into a range of feelings that you don't expect to hear from a 20 year old--feelings like the bittersweet taste of regret mixed with laughter..."
