Album Notes

The debut album from this Aussie big band vocalist and songwriter is a captivating combination of his own individual brand of modern swing and soft rock. The end result is an easy listening experience with just a dash of bite. The album highlights a voice that comfortably suits the overall big band feel. The listener would be forgiven for thinking that this is just a throw back to the vintage years of swing but there is much more to this album. Happily embracing rock and jazz influences, the end result is excitingly fresh. The opening track, Coast Road, is a tantalising fusion of jazz and soft rock and sets the album's upbeat mood. From the affectionate celebration of his home town in Blue Sky City, through the pivotal Swing and Sway, in which the songwriter unashamedly expresses his musical philosophy, on to the finale, a heartwarming tribute to the legendary Bobby Darin, “One Step Ahead” bubbles its way from beginning to end.

GOOD ON YA!
author: jonaco
This is a great little CD from Down Under: Danny McVey, a very likable crooner who does a great job on this set of mostly upbeat swing-pop and soft-rock tunes. With his relaxed, Aussie-flavored baritone, Danny puts this material over great- especially the swingin' stuff like "Blue Sky City", a musical visit to sunny Sydney. Not a bad track on this CD- good on ya Danno!
