“Train is Coming” is set of songs that I have written in hopes of inspiring children to imagine, laugh and love. I started writing these songs when I began teaching students with special needs. When I got the news that I was becoming a dad for the first time, I quickly found inspiration to finish the “Train is Coming” project.
The songs in this project are fun to sing. I have had so much positive feedback on how my songs are fun to sing, and good teaching tools as well. I wanted these recordings to reflect what I would sound like live and in person.
1) The song “Train is Coming” stems from my love of trains and how a young child is in awe when one rumbles through town with whistle in full force.
2) The song “Hamsters Everywhere” is dedicated to my love of little furry rodents. At the time I had two hamsters and it was fitting to imagine them in this song.
3) The song “Fishin Pond” is a reflection of my childhood in California. I grew up in Modesto and it was unheard of to have a pond next to your house. I was fortunate to be able to run out my front door and instantly appear in frog and bug world.
4) The song “Little Cardinal Sing” came from my love of my pet Starling and my appreciation for the state bird of my current home, Kentucky.
5) The song “Caterpillar” was easy to write because I love that even bugs get a chance to have a restart in life.
6) The song “Airplane” came from my love of planes and all my childhood dreams, wishing I could fly at any given moment.
7) The song “Blue Shark” was inspired by my love of sharks. I chose a blue shark because I think that they look so neat in the water.
8) The song “Down on the Farm” was written because I wanted to have a song that featured some fun animal songs. Plus I grew up next to the sights and sounds of so many farms.
9) The song “Let’s all Go” describes several animal habitats. I feel this song helps kids imagine animal worlds in a fun and descriptive way.
10) The song “Make Me a Sandwich” came about because I wanted to sing a silly song about food. Plus, it is a fitting dedication to the millions of sandwiches I have scarfed down in my life.
11) The song “Spider” is a lullaby plea for people to give these little critters a chance. Also, without spiders, we would be overrun by pesky flies and starving mosquitoes.
12) The song “Five Fleas Went Walking” was written because I have a little warm spot in my heart for cartoon fleas.
13) The song “Praying Mantis” is a tune about my favorite bug. I adore how they can be so still…. Waiting and praying.
14) The song “Fun at the Zoo” describes a perfect day at the zoo. Discovering amazing animals and hearing the fun sounds they make.
These songs are from the heart. Especially the silly part of my heart! I thank God for giving me the talent and tools to make and share these songs.
