Album Notes

This CD is George Winston crossed with Jim Brickman.

Text from the CD's insert:

"Friends Old and New,

I hope you enjoy "Passage to Home", the first recording of my solo piano compositions. I've tried to make as full a use as possible of the amazing versatility of the piano, the world's favorite musical instrument. Thus, you'll find on this recording a touch of classical, a hint of jazz, and a dash of rock, as well as the sounds of country, New Age, gospel, blues, and ballad. It's all about the piano !"

Solo piano recordings are generally appreciated by classical enthusiasts or used only as background music. Dan Starr's "Passage to Home" is NOT one of these. These songs touch the entire spectrum of human emotions. My three year old triplets love these songs!

It created and opened pathways for healthy communication. It has set the stage for some of my most productive introspection. It allows for a gentle hand and a time to think.

Listened...with joy and anticipation
author: Matt Moon, music critic, "The Desert Leaf"
Starr creates a wide range of scenes in his debut recording. Some are light and lilting, like clouds floating above the desert on a springtime afternoon. Others dance along hurriedly, like children chasing butterflies....Not since George Winston's "December" have I listened to a solo piano recording over and over again with such joy and anticipation.
