Album Notes

I’m a 45 year old folk and country artist with an edge. My music is proof positive that someone can be dark, brooding and cynical while still having a lot of fun.

In the 1980s, while in college at Brandeis, I warmed up for Tracy Chapman and played coffeehouses in the Boston area. I subsequently finished all of my degree work and taught high school history for fifteen years. I was even a high school principal for a while. I never, however, lost my desire to get back to the music. Well, my career in education is done, and I am ready to pursue my career as a musician with the same professionalism and maturity that I did my career in education.

Clever, Witty Songwriting - An Enjoyable and Fun CD
author: William and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
"The Gap Between v2" by Dan Weintraub is a collection of intimate folk and country songs. The lyrical content and guitar work are what makes this album stand out. You'll hear some polished, great sounding guitar progressions, and lyrics that are a bit on the dark side, yet well written and well delivered. Dan's personality certainly comes through in the music and his voice has a pleasant timbre. Highlights include "Beautiful Empty," which has some nice changes and lyrics that are a portrait of Dan's idea of carefree. "I'll Be Your Boyfriend, Paris Hilton" speaks for itself and lends itself to Dan's ability to laugh at himself. "Merely an Afterthought" wraps it up nicely, taking the tempo down a bit and without losing the concept. If you enjoy Folk music and clever songwriting with a twist of humor, pick this one up.
