Biography

Welcome and thanks for visiting.

"...Lemme 'splain. No, lemme sum up..." (name the movie) My songs may have a folksy feel, but don't be fooled: the stories are more often than not dark, sardonic, and rated NC-17. I loathe political correctness. I believe in Alvie Singer's world view that there are two groups of people, the miserable and the horrible. The horrible are people who have Guinea Worm Disease or people who live in famine-stricken lands, etc. The miserable are the rest of us, so....be happy that you're just miserable! Now, all of that said, I'm having a helluva lot of fun playing music and lots of folks are having fun singing along. I think it's fair to say that cheery, optimistic, sunny, gleeful people won't want to listen to my stuff. So, I guess if one of those words describes you or your audience, you'll probably want to pass on by. Stylistically, along with the occasional Neil Young twang in my voice or Merle Haggard strum, you'll hear hints of the Violent Femmes, the Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Warren Zevon, Elvis Costello and The Cramps throughout my stuff.

I've been playing to audiences for 25 years. This past year, however, has been somewhat of a renaissance for me. I bagged a 20 year career in education (I'm a spry 45) and am moving forward with my music. It's about time. Please check out my links, tunes, etc....And thanks again for stopping by!

Humorous Songs by a Talented Artist
author: William and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
"What's Your Point" by Dan Weintraub is a humorous alternative folk album filled with dark humor, punk influences and a "Say what I want" mentality. Dan holds nothing back in his lyrics. The journey through his mind is filled with cynicism and parodies of life. There are lots of smiles hiding in the darkness though. Dan delivers these brooding tunes with an effectively loving and funny style. Dan's talents as a songwriting, acoustic guitarist, and songwriter come together to deliver these enjoyable tunes. Highlights include the opener "Ya Ya Ya." Don't be fooled by the happy-go-lucky sound, Dan has something different in mind. "Employee of the Week" has a driving rhythm and is a love story of sorts. "No One's That Happy" speaks the truth about those who are living in "fake world." If you want to take a humorous look at life, check out this CD by this talented artist.
