I give this album 3 1/2 stars
author: The Verdict
Okay Da Prophet drops his album Memphis Year. Listening to his flow let me know he wants next. His production is real nice. Out of 15 songs he has 10 features which leads me to say he must've did'nt have enough material to do his whole album hisself so He got alot of features where he only had to write one verse instead of two or three, and this is a major problem. On can u relate Da Prophet spits (why this apartment has to have on fucking bedroom/little shorties don't hear their mommas all they hear is the led soon/why it's got to be us, momma got to go fuss/because her three boys ain't doing enough/ so I decided to pick up the slack so i pick up the crack/100 a pack but I'm getting 1000 back/) Lyrically he was telling listeners why he decided to get in the crack game then he also spit(why did the skuds lock me up when I already got it hard/just turn 18 and I already got a charge.) Overral verdict his subject matter was great and his flow was real hot Its mainly because he had to many features on his album. cop the album and listen for his next album to have lesser features, if so I believe that he is a 4 stars rapper, we will have to wait and see.

The Greatest well-rounded Balance of good underground music!!!
author: Matt Marshall/ VP A&R
I have dealt with a lot of underground artist as well as commercial artist, but theres one thing for sure that I know. When someone has captured a original style that is versatile to fast, slow, east, west, laid back, aggresive, etc. I personally believe he is the definition of marketable in all aspects. I gave it a 4 out of 5 due to quality issues which can always be fixed so that is one of the not so important things for underground artist. This CD also captures your attention throughout the whole album with a constant flow of beats that are untouchable by today'sprofessional standards (and yes I do mean Timbaland, Dr. Dre, Alchemist, etc.) and everything that is talked about on this CD, I can almost relate to in any part of town so that is what I believe a good album is. The Mike Jones Diss on here shows how I would say more then half of the underground artist arise on the hip/hop scene by pointing a large hip/hop figure and going after him, I think it was a great effort if I say so myself. I recommend this for all underground hip/hop lovers!!!
