While coming from a 7 year marriage, fighting with the Texas Police Department and Texas Court system, struggling to finish Daraja of The Coughee Brothaz - It's 420 (a project for Devin The Dudes - Coughee Brothaz Label) and dealing with business financial issues. Daraja still manages to engulf himself in the studio, spending more time there than his own home. Lab Rat Daraja's 3rd hip hop release on My Block Recordz is all about that, capturing that moment. The term Lab Rat, is a name that most musicians use when someone is doing nothing but staying in the recording studio (pretty much living there). Following his last release Daraja of The Coughee Brothaz - Back Against the Wall, Daraja doesn't put too much emphasis on any particular isssue. "The album is about me trying to escape, going somewhere else and also stepping out from under the coughee Brothaz shadow. I've been through alot of issues the past few years and is still dealing with a bunch of issues that I know most people would have quit or took a break from the music game by now. So I tried to make a album talking about the Goodtimes and a few of lifes good experiences." The album 1st single "I Want U" featuring Memphis & Geno, is a layed back track branching from the sounds of Common, the Late Great J-Dilla, and Kanye West. Its about kickin it with that special lady after work or that special lady and a few friends coming to kick it with you. And the 2nd single "I Changed, U Changed" featuring Shan-No & SarKhas, highlights how people change over time and in different situations. The Album also features Daraja's new group The Bossplayaz, featuring Rooster, Coache Johnson, That Boy Cayse, Black Tha Moses, Geno, Shan-No, Sarkhas, Lyricidal The Genius, Mitchelle’l & Face. This album is showcasing Darajs new group The Bossplayaz and giving them a chance to spread their name in the music game. "Most of the artist on my projects are very close friends of mine and have been doing this music thing with me for awhile now. So its my duty as a producer and a friend to put them out and their music!" Daraja produces and engineers majority of the project. But its the other artist's voice that make this project unlike any other.
