Album Notes

This CD was called “BIG METAL!” and “Damn near metal perfection” by Pulse magazine, and that was after hearing the original version. The version you will receive is newly re-mastered and professionally manufactured, and is even better than the original! The packaging includes lyrics and a color photo of Dan's two unique custom home-made guitars including the double-neck acoustic & electric Dan was building while the film "Driver 23" was being shot.

Influences of the band include: Rush, Queensryche, Dream Theatre, Deep Purple, Van Halen, Styx, Boston, Queen, Metallica, Kansas, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and many more.

This band is featured in two award-winning rockumentary films by Rolf Belgum which, among other things, chronicles the process of making this CD, including the challenges and trials associated with forming and keeping a band together. Filmmaker Rolf Belgum and Dan are starting work in 2008 to make the third film in the series.

Email us if you are interested in obtaining a copy of the DVD which includes both films ("Driver 23" and "The Atlas Moth") and a 5.1 surround-sound version (which a Minneapolis Star and Tribune reporter called "last and best of all", of “The Struggle” (song #6 on the CD), along with audio commentary by filmmaker Rolf Belgum and his assistant Jeff Ferguson, along with Dan Cleveland, the leader of the band.

Sean Cassidy, who is a very large part of the films and the sound of this CD, passed away in 2004 of a heart attack and is sorely missed. Since his passing, the band has obtained a new bass player who also has exceptional talent and are currently making their second CD in Dan’s newly re-built Jury Rig Studio.

If you wish to be a member of Dark Horse’s email list, send your email address by clicking on the “Email Dark Horse” link to the left and you will receive periodic updates on the second CD and the third film.

Comments of all varieties are always welcome, so let us know what you think! Enjoy!
