Crack a 40 or fire up a blunt and watch the DSC knock back whiskey by the gallon and smoke herb by the tree. Check out BobDawgsta (aka Bobby from Survivor: Exile Island on CBS) turn up a handle of Jack Daniels and chug it for 10 seconds on "Smoke & Drank" (you'll never see anyone else do this--I hope!). Check out the breakers from the B Boy summit on 100 MPH and listen to BobDawgsta smash Kobe Bryant on the intro. Check out the DSC rock the house at the El Rey Theater, and drop heat from Venice Beach, to the Shaw to LA County, to the O and back...

THE DARKSIDE CROOKS

The Darkside Crooks are a rap group made up of three wicked South Central MCs and one crazy smoker/skater/DJ.

BobDawgsta the Darkside Wino, who "doesn't do shit unless he's tipsy", is known across the 9 plains as a drunken lyrical maniac, long ago corrupted by the sinister vapors of the mysterious Black Cube. BobDawg is the deadliest disciple of the mythical 3 Headed Whiskey Beast and is the bearer of the Darkside Chalice and Chief Defender of the Darkside Flag.

Stik Figya the Darkside Warlock, last survivor of the Twelve Thousand Dark Monks, is the exalted "Ill Nicest on Mic Devices" and is a cunning lyrical spellcaster capable of turning his body matter into evil shadow currents. Stik Fig is the bearer of the Potion of Patience and Cultivator of the Dark Chonic Leaves.

Snook Dawgsta the Shogun, long lost brother of BobDawgsta, is an invincible rhyme fighter skilled in all disciplines of combat (he knows more shit than fools in the Matrix) and is the Undefeated Defender of the Dark Belt. Known for the 2 Finger Death Grip (which he taught to Darth Vader), Snook Dawg travels the cosmos collecting the heads and title belts of opponents dumb enough to battle him. Last but not least, the Almighty DJ Frane assembled these time-traveling rhyme fighters to assist him in his eternal quest to unravel the secrets of the Black Cube and defeat the forces of the Lightside.

The DSC has been together as a group for about five years, bringing their varied styles together for a truly unique listening experience (think Alkaholiks meets Beastie Boys with a touch of Lords of the Rings mythos mixed in, and just enough hood to keep it gangsta). Over the past couple of years, the DSC has honed its style and has worked hard at getting together the most sophisticated demo package possible. This album, is the first iteration of the group's approach, heavily laden with Star Wars, pro wrestling, and other pop culture references. Of particular note on this album is the epic, "The Wino, the Warlock and the Shogun", a 13 minute piece which explains the origins of each of the Crooks. It is essential to understanding the style and many of the references on the album, though its bangin' beats and rhymes mean you can just pop it in and enjoy it!
