Album Notes

Formed in the summer of 2007 and and transformed through the bleakest of Michigan winters, the deceivingly familiar music of Darling Imperial is all at once moving, urgent, and, most clearly at the core, innocent. From full arrangements to the sparsest of melodic pieces, Darling Imperial's indie rock-tinged reverie transforms the most somber of sentiments and melancholy to cloudbursts of sweet nostalgia.

"Driven, melodic goodness played with an unpretentious panache, passion and precision..."
-- Metro Times

"...a slight shoegaze feel mixed with a teaspoon of alt-country...Sarah Sadovsky has a tinge of Chrissie Hynde...like Slowdive meets Old 97’s meets The Pretenders."
-- IdDream.com

"...[A] strong emphasis on the delicate yet powerful vocals of singer Sarah Sadovsky. Their sound is reminiscent of Feist, Frida Hyvonen or Stereolab but with a slight twist."
-- Girl in Germany

"...the stunning voice of singer Sarah Sadovsky is brought to life by the inviting, melodic music that brings out a range of emotions through every song."
-- localmusiclife.com

"...a new project of some Detroit veterans, boasts an amazing lead singer by the name of Sarah Sadovsky. Imagine White Chalk album-era PJ Harvey, mixed with a little Tori Amos, but certainly not as old or weird."
-- Detroit Riot
