The French composer and guitar player Thierry Darnis is the leader of the band “Darnis et Compagnie”. The Darnis et Compagnie quartet is taking part of the renewal of French Jazz that started a few years ago. Thierry Darnis is a self taught guitar player, he offers a melodic jazz where every composition shows different facets of his musical world. From his background of songwriter, Thierry Darnis kept the taste of well constructed themes that are going straight to the point. Each of his composition is a conversation with his quartet where the energy is dedicated to the message. Tchookar and Z production are releasing in 2008, “La Passerelle”. This new album of “Darnis et Compagnie” underline the different musicians backgrounds. It keeps a strong message without restricting their freedom of speech. The tenor saxophone player Jean Yves Auchère integrates the band perfectly. Playing tenor or soprano saxophones, he gives us intense interpretations and very creative solos. His strong personality is integrated in his improvisations where generosity completes creativity. Roland Merlinc is colourful drummer, giving a very personal approach of his instrument. All natural effects are here, giving to his language the pertinence and enthusiasm that we discover all along all the album. Thierry Reocreux is a double bass player with a special background, he is giving the quartet his various influences with taste and give to the album “La Passerelle” various shades which are so many roads to follow. From March 2008, Brice Berrerd, Roland Merlinc talented accomplice will hold the double bass for Darnis et Compagnie.
