Album Notes

I am interested in the earthly and the other-worldly, the profane and the sublime. On Harvesting Light, I played all instruments: ebow electric guitar, sitar, Flughelhorn, Dumbek, Tambura, Piano, Mandolin, Synth Bass, Banjo, Harmonica, Trumpet, Classical Guitar, Congas, Glockenspiel, and Steel Drums to explore the crack between worlds, to conjure up what Paul Bowles calls the "baptism of solitude", the ineffable, unforgettable experience that happens to solitary travelers in the Sahara, where the sense of self dwindles to a pinprick in the cosmos of the sand and sky; a limitless vastness that threatens to snuff out the soul.
