While the lead singer's voice is reminiscent of Tom Waits it doesn't come across as imitative. Rather there is a similarity of tone which is interesting but becomes fairly irrelevant as you get into the original music. I love their use of the upper registers of the frets and occasional bottleneck guitar sounds ~ interesting music. I gave it 4 out of 5 because, like most albums, even the excellent ones, there is some uneveness in the quality of the songs. But overall, this is a 'do not miss' cd!

Solid album, better with more listens. There are two standouts on the album, and the rest is quite good. A little grit, nice musicianship, and well written songs add up to a good listen.
