Das Dhoom is an independent group based in Seattle, WA, USA. The name means "the bass" The band features Sebastian Lange on violin and synthesizers, and James Whetzel on voice, sarod, bass, and percussion. They released their ten track debut album "Poetry of Dhoom" in 2011.

You can also follow the individual artists Sebastian Lange and James Whetzel on Soundcloud, Twitter & Facebook.
The beat of Das Dhoom's version of "People Are People" is made up of layers of acoustic percussion played by James Whetzel. The track features Sebastian's violin playing and James' sarod playing. Vocals by James Whetzel.
Sebastian Lange is a classically trained violinist and electronic music composer from Berlin, Germany. He has played violin since the age of 7. He is especially fascinated with merging classical live instrumental music with an ecosystem of live triggered electronics and samples and believes a new age of live-electronic music convergence is upon us.
Sebastian Lange's solo album "01" was released in 2010.
A classically trained sarod and tabla player who sings, plays palm-wine guitar, and DJs clever beats, James Whetzel, aka Baba James, is a multi-instrumentalist producer who combines these elements to create new electro-acoustic music that melds the melodic subtleties of ragas with punchy desi beats, rawk, hip hop, elegant African grooves and whatever else is necessary.
James has several solo albums to his credit. His first album was "Sum" in 2001, and his most recent solo work was 2010's "Vibrance" EP. James has also performed and recorded with the group Mean Deep and as DJ Baba James and is producer of the album "Koo Nimo & Vishal Nagar," which pairs African legend Koo Nimo with virtuoso Indian tabla player Vishal Nagar.
