Album Notes

Mindwrestling, Das’ second full-length album wa released
Sept 2006. Listeners will find no sudden departures
from the group’s vigorous breed of jazz, as their
latest record showcases the familiarly muscular compositions
they are best known for. Also prevalent to the album
is their ever-deepening experiments with recording improvisation
and the accompaniment of ensemble players.
This quartet continues to amaze audiences with their precise,
uncompromising timbre. Geoff Larson and JC Bockman
structure the group’s prime sensibility with fl ooding
bass and raucous drums, respectively. Josh Clifford lends
his versatile tenor saxophone to passages that require
both pestilence and boon, while Justin Sorensen assertively
haunts the sound with his contemporary approach
on the vibraphone.
Das Vibenbass seeks to challenge the borders of jazz
today; Mindwrestling is evidence that they have solidififi ed
themselves as an important voice for years to come.

Buy it if you dig good modern jazz

I've had this CD for six months now. In the beginning I listened to it all the time. Now I put it on now and then and get the same good feeling every time. You just can't get bored of straight up groovy jazz with good sax sound, skilled drum playing, cool laid back bass and some awesome vibes. I totally dig the viephrafone in generally and these guys knows how to use it. Buy it if you dig good modern jazz
