Crucial Blast returns with another electronic shitstorm for the senses!
New Jersey duo DATACLAST (comprised of Anthony Saunders and Brian Klock) have created what they call "post-human grind", which describes their hyperactive fusion of IDM/breakcore/glitch electronica and brutal grindcore /deathmetal. Armed to the teeth with nothing but computer-based sequencers, a small army of analog and digital synthesizers, drum machines, and vocals, DATACLAST are basically here to ruin the party for all death/grind AND electronica purists out there. An easy reference would be CARCASS being molested by KID 606, OVAL, and AUTECHRE....and I think that it was TERRORIZER Magazine that described Dataclast as "MORTICIAN being tossed down a flight of stairs along with a bathtub filled with alarm clocks". Either way, expect a full force gale of tsunami level grinding vehemence powered by extreme digital experimentation (plus some bastardized French philosophy) spread over these 29 tracks. DATACLAST has current and forthcoming split EPs with Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Damage Digital, Pantalones Abajo Marinero, and Exhumed. They also had the juice to open the final DISCORDANCE AXIS show at CBGB's on 5/13/01.
And that's only half of this disc!! Seattle's shadowy EARWIGS have been around for over a decade, and rank as one of the seminal outfits in the underground US noise scene. Their contribution to this split CD involves 6 tracks of thoroughly tweaked-out electronic abstractions that drift between the sublimely celestial crystalline shards of "Megaton Locust Invasion" to the apocalyptic throb of "Unconquerable Golden Dragon!". Frothing with references to violent anime and Japanese Kaiju, EARWIGS deliver the catchiest hooks in power electronics! Get down!
