Album Notes

This album's influence was a cross-section of the Cambridge Folk scene of the early 00s. The compositions are generally spare--quirky without being obtuse. Most songs are layered with backing vocals; others blend a concertina, fiddle, drum kit, or a wayward trombone. The guitar is straight ahead, either strummed or finger picked; a few songs are upbeat; one is like a dirge. The songs tap hopeful, bluesy melodies and reverse lyrical expectations, exuding a brand of humane charm unlikely in most current performing songwriters.
