Album Notes

Deep Waters is an inward journey into your oceanic depths. The journey begins with ethereal calls, beckoning you to relax into your innate nature -- that part of yourself which is everlasting and eternal. Your mind begins to let go as it drifts with the ebb and flow of those calls. Deep, balancing sounds further invite you to slow down and rest. You reside in blissful repose until it is time to gently emerge from your own internal depths. The glorious sounds of bells envelope you as you break the surface of the water. You are free to soar to the heavens - refreshed and renewed!

Deep Waters is a full hour of continuous psychoacoustic sound and music. There are four tracks in the CD but no actual breaks in the music.

This CD has been tested and refined during hundreds of massage therapy sessions. It works great for both personal home use and for professional use by massage therapists.

A Message from the Artist....

I wrote Deep Waters because I wanted a piece that embodied the "heart" of the healing practice in massage as well as the other effective characteristics of psychoacoustic music. I also wanted a composition that incorported the healing vibrational aspect of my massage practice. Deep Waters has some very special low-frequency characteristics that can be used in special sound therapy tables and chairs, or even subwoofers and bass speakers of home stereo systems. Deep Waters calls out to your parasympathetic response -- your own inner healing physician -- and submerges you into the envelope of an immense love from which we all come.

Thus, Deep Waters is all about that journey. By using the voice talents of the London Choir Symphony, I combined their intonations of "ah's" and "oh's" in a flowing, ever changing ambient soundscape. These vowel sounds have some very profound properties, especially when combined with a meditative practice or chanted and intoned in your own resonate voice. They open your heart and expand your spirit. They allow you to deeply connect with the ground of your own being where you can find peace and rest. This is important for us to do lest we forget that we can experience great comfort and beauty each and every day.

There is more to Deep Waters, but I invite you to find out for yourself. Be drawn in, to yourself, to the universe which birthed you into being and live.

Namaste,

Dave Fisher

About Dave

What do you get when you integrate a musically inclined computer geek with a licensed massage therapist who has a passionate interest in healing, sound and vibration and who immerses himself in mindfulness exploration?

In his former life, Dave was a successful systems analyst in a corporate environment that fed this wallet but not his soul. Nearing burnout, he walked away from that role to embrace a journey of self-discovery and intentional awareness. Dave’s curiosity and hunger for knowledge led him to study diverse spiritual disciplines that awakened in him an intense desire to ease the suffering of others.

Dave spent years learning about various healing modalities and found that the emerging sound and vibration field truly fascinated him as well as deeply effecting him spiritually. He has attended several institutions, from The Monroe Institute to Zen Mountain Monastery and is currently a zen practitioner at The Zen Center of Syracuse Hoen-ji. Under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Thompson, he completed a Bio-Tuning and Sonic Induction Therapy Intensive course at the Center for Neuroacoustic Research in CA. It was then that he began to see how his computer programming background could combine with healing sound modalities.

He started plumbing any and all resources on psychoacoustic sound to lay the groundwork for his growing vision -- weekend group workshops using individually customized psychoacoustic sound recordings to aid emotional, physical and spiritual healing. It was also during this time that he participated in a weekend massage workshop and found that his innate healing touch found an immensely nourishing outlet through the work. He enrolled in The Finger Lakes School of Massage in upstate NY and 1000 hours later, took his state and national exams to become a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT).

Thousands of hours later, as one sound composition after another was written, discarded, overhauled, fine-tuned and then tested during hundreds of massage therapy sessions, both Deep Waters and Sound Sleep were birthed.

Dave continues to develop other compositions and explore the heart of sound and it's ability to transform human awareness.

Jan 10, 2007 - I sat [meditation] 6-6:45 and soon had a terrible headache. Went to lie down and listen to Dave Fisher’s “Deep Waters.” It’s amazing—profoundly healing just giving yourself over to the deep silence, the profound compassion, of this sound. It’s like Dave’s deep kindness, of which he is such an amazing vehicle, made into sound. Voiceless. Wordless. [I soon fell asleep, and woke up without headache any more] I have to admit that I was somewhat skeptical when I took Deep Waters home after a massage appointment with Dave Fisher. Not that I doubt Dave’s skill at putting together healing sound, but I couldn’t imagine how the music itself would have much positive effect without the table, room, and therapeutic touch that come with Dave’s presence. But I have been most pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy this music—I have found it a profoundly healing tool. Put bluntly, it feels great to listen to it. Put on headphones, and it’s like the sound just cuts through,-- stills--- that rag rag rag clatter of fears and should-be-doings, irritations, worries, etc, stressful thought stream, in one’s mind. I find it instantly stilling, like entering another world, or a dark vast cavernous church, in the presence of some great mystery, which is you, and your true home. Since I’ve had the cd I use fewer herbal relaxants or sleep aides. The sound is the medicine—no need to ingest chemicals. This is so overdue—I once heard a Cayuga Indian flute player who told us, To listen to the songs of birds, that’s medicine. Due to financial considerations I can’t come in often for an actual massage, but I’m finding that sound is an excellent surrogate. I often fall asleep listening to Deep Waters, or at least dissipate into a light, twilight state-- and that is a good effect. With profound gratitude, Catherine Landis

This is very inspiring music. It puts me in a state of mind that is relaxing and calming. The music itself takes me to another place. I go to the ocean, the sand and sun. I love the water sounds!
