Amazingly, “Interim Reports” is Dave’s first release since his vinyl albums “Dave Keir” and “I Can See Dover”. (both nla) . And yes, Reports is a survey of songs composed in the Interim! Above all, all of these songs have earned their right to be included in this collection by meeting with acclaim in performance. Dave wouldn’t have it any other way.
As always with Dave, each of these songs is about something – nothing is this set is mere veneer or passing whimsy. They range from being almost journalistic about experience to wild extrapolations from a single glance or a passing smile. Joy and sorrow can often by heard jostling for the last word.
Coruscating fingerstyle guitar is the bedrock upon which these miniature epics are built. Fast or slow, muscular or spare, rarely does such a happy combination of lyricism, invention and high technique occur under the same fingers.
This CD is highly recommended.
In the booklet, Dave mentions that these reports are indeed “interim”, Look out for some “Uneasy Listening” at this store very soon…

“Interim Reports”

Superb album from start to finish. Absolutely agree with other reviewers - the music is engaging, the lyrics tell stories intelligently. Many songs demonstrate a wonderful sense of humor, when appropriate. Guitar sounds great, and is well played. Another believer! This CD should be on everyone's short list! Bravo!

Reports Worth Your Attention

Watch out! There\'s a brain cell about... or several, if this CD is any indicator. This is music which gets under the skin after repeated listenings, and the lyrics are not only intelligent, they\'re clearly audible, the importance of which is entirely forgotten by many top artistes in the fields of rock, pop and folk music.
I\'m used to hearing Dave performing at close quarters in live venues or his studio; him on CD is a new experience for me, but this item gives me that feeling of Dave being in the room with me. And that word \"unique\"; so often abused! Dave\'s voice truly is unique, and solidly married to his musical vision. All those years ago, I read \"Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance\"... quality is the key, believe me. The real Keir experience; hesitate not and buy it pronto.

WOW! That's all I'll say apart from "You need this album".
Ok I'll add that the guitar work is superb, the subject matter is endearing, his vocals are great and it's my new favourite album. What more do you need?
