Album Notes

Back as far as Dave can remember his Grandma McEathron, his two uncles (Jack & Kirk), and the rest of the clan would turn family gatherings into late night kitchen jams and he was allowed to say up past his bedtime to watch from the top of the stairs. Many campfire, college, and post show jams have since reinforced his belief that music is best served in the atmosphere of love and laughter.

Dave McEathron was born in Peterborough, Ontario, where he lived his childhood years until his family relocated to a cattle farm in Bancroft, Ontario. He started to perform in local bars and clubs at the early age of fifteen. Some of Dave’s early bands played folk, country and classic rock and he later studied Music at Humber College where the curriculum was rooted in jazz and blues.

His biggest influences tended to be artists that incorporated aspects of those genres;
from the poetic lyrics of Townes Van Zandt and Leonard Cohen to the finger style playing of Gordon Lightfoot, the vivid characterization of Bruce Springsteen’s blue collar politics and the psychedelic folk rock melting pot of Gram Parsons and Neil Young.

Dave splits his time between his country home on the east gate of Algonquin Park (Whitney, ON) and downtown Toronto where he performs at many of the singer songwriter haunts. Dave’s new album “Passers-By Passers Through” was recorded in East Toronto with some of Toronto’s well known, independent musicians backing him up.

Passers-By Passers Through is a richly layered collection of finely crafted folk rock songs, best enjoyed during life’s quiet moments.
