When you’re born to a musical family and raised on the plains of Oklahoma and Kansas, you’re sure to learn the importance of family, God, country, hard work and the power of country music.

Dave Parks grew up watching his part of the world spawn such legendary talents as Vince, Reba, Garth and Martina. When Parks made his way to Nashville, he knew that he too had something fresh to offer the country music world.

Parks’ independent label release “Livin’ an American Dream” is proof of that. It’s a collection of well crafted songs (written or co-written by Parks) that presents a stirring portrait of a man working hard to achieve his dreams while never losing sight of the things in life that matter most. Dave cranks up the fun and energy level with a few dance hall country-rockers as well.

Parks’ voice is notably more powerful than one is used to hearing in today’s country, and it’s a refreshing change.

“Total strangers come up and express kindness to me, almost love, on the basis of my singing and songwriting,” says Parks. “That just reinforces me. It tells me I'm doing my job…what I was born to do."
