Relaxing, calming acoustic folk with spiritual lyrics. Mellow acoustic guitar, sultry violin and cello support Tate's intimate and soaring tenor voice. Imagine Paul Simon's softer solo work mixed with Jeff Buckley's softer material.

Album Notes

"This is by far the most grabbing male folk album to come through our doors in months. It's hard not to make comparisons to Paul Simon's more sensitive folk writing with a similar mix of warmth, open space, breathy vocals, innocence and a dewy, green clarity of intention. His songs have a way of stealing your breath away and removing you momentarily from the passing of time, suspending you in full-body harmonies. While he has a knack for open-hearted, reflective songs, there is the slightest echo of acoustic jam band writing, giving this album a well-balanced emotional scope from track one to eleven. Bravo."

-CDBaby

"...a CD of such exquisite quality that you are immediately enthralled by it. A CD which is always close to your sound system so you can play it daily...This masterpiece is worthy of a place in the singer/songwriter Hall of Fame...Breathtakingly beautiful..." & "...A true listening experience..."

- Folk Forum

"...Marvelous voice! At once versitile, dynamic and angel-like...He possesses the special kind of talent you only see come along once a decennium. If you're lucky."
- Haven Magazine

"His own unique style (think of a cross between Paul Simon and Jeff Buckley, not just in style but also in quality) hits such a level of perfection that it's hard to comprehend anything more beautiful."

- Heaven Magazine

Critically acclaimed artist Dave Tate’s soulful acoustic music combines intimate finger-picked acoustic guitar, passionate tenor vocals, and poetic imagery to show how strong quiet can be. A native of the red rock desert of Zion National Park, Tate’s music reflects the vast spacious beauty of his homeland. Tate's dynamic songwriting is similar to the softer material of Paul Simon, Jeff Buckley and James Taylor. Tate's graceful yet intense style combines pure, intimate vocals with dynamic acoustic guitar tones. Mystical lyrics rooted in themes of spiritual liberation, friendship and self discovery are a signature of Tate's music.

In 2010 Tate released The Houses of Healing, an 11 track intimate record of swelling guitars acoustic soundscapes and lightly soaring tenor melodies. Heaven Magazine raved, “I have come to know long before now, as Nick Drake was discovered to be, that Tate is one of the most unique singer-songwriters ever.”

In 2009 Tate released the duet CD The Same Heart with his wife and fellow singer/songwriter Victoria Lagerström. The Same Heart is a collection of songs about their story of their Trans-Atlantic romance. Lagerström came to the US from Stockholm, Sweden to write and record with Tate. The couple soon fell in love and Lagerström, not using her return ticket to Sweden, was married to Tate among the red rock cliffs of Zion three weeks after her arrival. In December 2009 the duo embarked on their second successful European tour to support The Final Hour and The Same Heart.

In 2008 released The Final Hour his follow up album to the 2006 release The Solitude of Here. The Final Hour received critical acclaim in the Netherlands where his record sales recently prompted his second sold out tour. Folk Forum raved, “As far as I am concerned Tate is the best singer/songwriter around at the moment.” The Final Hour is Tate's eighth record. Tate has performed on numerous occasions in Oregon, Arizona, Texas, California and Utah and has embarked on two successful European tours.

In 2006 Tate released The Solitude of Here, which CDBaby called “...by far the most grabbing male folk album we’ve seen in months.” The album also received stunning press from the Netherlands. Folk Forum raved, “This masterpiece is worthy of a place in the singer/songwriter Hall of Fame,” and Heaven Magazine stated, "He possesses the special kind of talent you only see come along once a decennium. If you're lucky."

Tate currently resides in Zion Canyon, Utah and continues to tour nationally and internationally.
