Michael Vines

A lyrical, poetic journey down a path we all travel.
Dave Tutin begins "Beneath a Flagless Moon" with a brief, beautifully evocative instrumental, as if to say, "Words? Who needs them?" And then, he uses them, masterfully demonstrating on the rest of the album that we all need them as he harkens back to his past to make sense of where he is and where he is going. A truly beautiful collection of music that grows on the listener as the listener grows with the music.

Jeff Shattuck

The art of the song is alive and well.
As technology pushes further into music, it's refreshing to hear an album of acoustic instruments on which the song reigns supreme. The melodies, the changes, especially the lyrics: you won't hear mundane, easy cliches on Dave's songs, you'll hear the life lessons he's learned and he's learned some good ones. Oh, and the sound. Every song sounds warm and rich and full, as though it's coming off of vinyl not a hard drive. A real achievement.
