Trifecta Winner!
author: Peace Boy
WOW! What a fantastic breath of fresh air! Dave Ur has created an acoustic CD with diversity, spice and sooo much flavor. Courting The Muse creates a medley of sound good enough to eat! If this was culinary cuisine there’s no doubt it would be world-class… having you begging for second and third helpings. It would be one of those unique dishes you crave so intensely you must satisfy the yearning ASAP!!
With powerful hooks that are anything but generic, unpredictable melodies and uniquely-styled guitar work Dave Ur’s freshman release begs for an encore. His writing abilities are extremely accessible yet so far beyond even some of the most lauded of lyricists. He breaks out of “the box” and bears his soul like few artists are able to do today. Dave’s songs will most certainly stop anyone in their tracks to take a trip down memory lane, waking up only to wonder where they’ve just been and how they got there.
I can’t count the times I’ve had “Submarining” pop into my head at exactly the right moment- almost causing a road accident to find it on my playlist immediately. “Manana” is probably the best Latin-American hybrid I’ve heard since Santana. Anyone who has vacationed in Mexico will know what I mean…and if you haven’t save yourself a plane ticket! “I Knew A Girl” almost any guy can relate to. It speaks directly to the heart about cherished lost love that will always remain alive somehow, someway. The other songs on the CD are all just as potent…and Dave’s quirky anecdotes between songs go unrivaled- worth buying the CD alone! “Night Falls” and “High Plains Drifter” still compete for #1 with me.
Courting the Muse is “ay un Monstro en tu iPod!!” Treat yourself NOW and experience this guaranteed wild ride. It will most certainly set off a series of firework flashbacks with images of your life experience exploding in brilliant color. Well done and HIGHLY recommended! Keep it coming Dave!

Raise a glass for all of us........

......"Under the night sun" he says, what a show, what music, what a man. Don't know where he really comes from, but the South will call him their own "Dog" soon, hopefully. And how bout that rendition of "Atlanta"(she lives in a bungalow, she paints me with roses and pearls, she waits for me), I almost lost it completely. If his second disc is anything even remotely close to this one, off the charts!

Where is everybody goin'?
author: Times Underground
Wo!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unreal would be the understatement of the new millennium. His approach is anything but pessimistic. In fact, it's one of the most inadvertantly positive takes on modern social propriety and decorum(through our relationships). Lyrically genius and right on. Brings one back to a simpler time of discovery and feeling. Almost to the point of guilt where one would ask; Where is everybody goin'? He should've called the album; The Longing!

"Courting the Muse" has defied the hapless pop culture standards of today
author: Iowa
In his debut album, David Ur has compiled a multifaceted array of lyrical poetry which gives hope for the endangered art of songwriting; coupled then by the soothing acoustics, Courting the Muse has defied the hapless pop culture standards of today. The love ballads are simplistic and graceful which all thankfully avoid the typical whiney and heart sick redundancies we've all become accustomed to; the other songs are themed by loneliness and yet somehow filled with just enough want and hope. Pay careful attention to Submarining, Paper Knife, Manana and Blue Wig; and my personal favorite, The Sober Song is especially intoxicating. David Ur has produced a CD which to me seems a melancholic lullabye and he shows a promise for the return, finally, to good music.
