Album Notes

The first ever tribute to legendary bluesman Sonny Boy Willamson!
Featuring the voice of the mighty Dave Walker. Many consider Dave to be THE voice of Savoy Brown. Even the most casual fan of Savoy Brown will know Dave's voice from their most popular albums 'Street Corner Talkin' 'Hellbound Train' and 'Lions Share'

This is Dave's first album in 14 years and is well worth the wait! Blues Rock that's not over the top! This aint no Aerosmith blues album, baby. This is the real deal.

"His last album, Mostly Sonny... A Tribute to Sonny Boy Williamson, contains some of the finest interpretations the old bluesman ever received.." Dave Thompson, Goldmine Magazine. January 2008

" a worthy salaam to a legend...if you're gone on rowdy, loose limbed blues for the purposes of running jumping and standing still, you ought to give Dave and his Ambulators a listen" Alan Clayson, Record Collector Magazine

Recently featured on the nationally syndicated radio program Blues Deluxe!

Dave is joined by a stellar cast of British bluesmen:

Nigel Watson on guitar & Roger Cotton on keyboards (Peter Green's Splinter Group)
Don Craine on rhythm guitar & Keith Grant on bass (Downliners Sect)
Ray Majors on guitar (Yardbirds/Mott)
Mick Avory on drums (The Kinks)
and Savoy Brown co-founder John O'Leary on harmonica

additional musicians: Chris Hunt and Alan Brooks (drums) Russ Garrett (background vocals)

Recorded at Roundel Studio, Kent, UK (Feb-April 2004)

As a Savoy Brown lover I knew I would like this album. He mixes so many different influences into this mix, from old fashioned blues, a little country, a little bayou and much more. I hope this leads to more to come. I really enjoyed this CD.

Well as a big fan of the Dave Walker era Savoy Brown I have always been on the lookout for his work and own most of it...Daves voice is the best period and as with his work with Savoy Brown " Street Corner Talking " and " Hellbound Train " the " Tribute To Sonny " is first class! His band mates set the table with fine playing all around! Time for The Ambulators to do some of the Savoy Brown stuff with Dave singing as well! "Tribute To Sonny" comes....Highly Recommended!!!!!!!

Well first of all thank you for putting out such a phenomanal selection of blues. Dave is one of the greatest blues singers alive!!! He and the Ambulators do Sonny Boy proud. Look forward to the next CD. I love the voice on, Miss You Too, it sounds like the soulful Stan Webb of Chicken Shack and Savoy Brown Fame. Special thanks to the soulful genius of Dave Walker.
